What is the USDA Food Program?
“The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is a federal program that provides reimbursements for nutritious meals and snacks to eligible children and adults who are enrolled for care at participating child care centers, day care homes, and adult day care centers. CACFP also provides reimbursements for meals served to children and youth participating in afterschool care programs, children residing in emergency shelters, and adults over the age of 60 or living with a disability and enrolled in day care facilities. CACFP contributes to the wellness, healthy growth, and development of young children and adults in the United States.”
Who Can Participate?
Any licensed Family Day Care Home in the state of Arkansas.
Any non-profit licensed Child Care Center in the state.
Any for-profit Child Care Center with at least 25% of children enrolled come from low-income households.
Any licensed Adult Center that provides nonresidential care to adults 60 and over in the state.
How Does It Work?
All participating providers must serve meals that meet the USDA’s nutritional standards.
Providers may receive reimbursements for up to two main meals and one snack per day per participant.
Claims are submitted on a monthly basis. AR Children will review claims and submit to the state for reimbursement. Money is then directly deposited into provider’s account. 100% of the funds received from AR Children must be spent on provider’s food program.
